Multifactor Authentication and Secure ImageFrequently asked questions: 1. What is Multifactor Authentication?Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is an additional layer of security that we are adding to our Online Banking process. This is to prevent unauthorized access to your Online Banking accounts. You currently log into Online Banking with your User ID and a Password. With Secure Image, you will also identify an image and a Pass Phrase to verify you are actually on the ISB secure site. This will help ensure that your information is secure, better protecting you from fraud and identity theft. 2. Why are we now using Multifactor Authentication?By the end of 2006, the FDIC is requiring every bank to implement a risk managed system to further protect customer information. With growing online security issues, including identity theft and Phishing, some form of MFA is a requirement for safer online transactions. 3. When will I have to enroll? All Online Banking users will enroll into Secure Image starting January 9, 2007. 4. What is Secure Image?Secure Image is the security application we have chosen to provide MFA to all of our Online Banking customers. Secure Image will install a cookie and small flash object on your registered computer. These objects will -- - Identify your computer to the Secure Image system
- Identify you as a trusted online user
- Identify our website to you as authentic - not a fraudulent site.
5. I am a new Online Banking customer. What do I do?You will enroll into Secure Image on your second login attempt. This is done so you can initially build a valid record for Online Banking. - Choose the First Time Users button.
- Enter Access ID
- Enter Password
- Change Access ID & Password (6-10 characters)
6. What is the difference between a public and a personal computer?A public computer is an open access resource, such as at a public library or Internet café. A personal computer is one that you have exclusive access to, such as your home or office PC. You may register more than one computer as a personal computer. 7. Is there a cost for this? No, there is no cost to you. This is part of ISB’s continuing efforts to make your online transactions more secure. 8. Can I pick out my own Secure Image?Initially the system will randomly assign the image. You can change it any time after you enroll. 9. Will my Online Banking password change? No. Please use your current password to log into Online Banking. For security reasons you will still be prompted to change your password every 90 days.
